Maryland Power Boat Club L.L.C.

Welcome to the Maryland Powerboat
Club website, founded by Gorden Spalding and Diane Rowe. We are a
new club focused on bringing people with the love of power boating
together. No matter the size or speed of your boat, your age, or
your "social status", if you love boating and having fun, we want
you.Our goal is to organize a few events in the summer and a few gatherings in the winter. We want to maintain a website where members can go to find out about our future events and view pictures of our past events. In general, we want to bring power boaters from all over the area together to have fun and build friendships.
The idea came from the success we've had with the "Patuxent River Fun Run", which we have organized with Kevin and Jan Peregoy. The "Fun Run" was started four years ago when we organized a bunch of friends to do a "Bar Crawl" on the Patuxent River. A deck of cards was thrown in, as an after thought, to make it more interesting. Needless to say, we all had a great time. Since then the "Fun Run" has grown. We have had up to 47 boats involved.
With many of our friends expressing an interest in us organizing more events, we talked about starting a club. It never became more than talk between Diane and I until last spring when we went by to see our friend, Pat Reiter. As most of you know, we lost Pat in a boating accident last fall. While we were at Pat's, we decided to tell him about our idea of starting a club. Pat was enthusiastic about it and encouraged us to do it. Also at Pat's shop during our conversation was Marcelo Parodi. Marcelo was the web designer of Pat's website so we talked to him about doing our website. After leaving Pat's, we were very excited to get started, but with busy schedules, it was again put on the back burner.
In the days after Pat's accident, we realized what great people the boaters in this area are. Everyone pulled together to do what they could to either try to find Pat, or be there to support Pat's family. We also realized that life is short and if we were going to start this club, the time was now. So here we are.
